Duffy Will Be NYS Lt. Governor

Most Rochesterians might be thinking that losing it’s mayor to the Cuomo campaign will be an advantage for Rochester and upstate New York.  Think again.  It might make a slight difference but being in a position that serves the entire State of New York it is unlikely that he will be able to do that much.  Even if he wants to do more the reality is he will have to cut political ties with Rochester.  The Cuomo campaign has already restricted access to Duffy.  Cuomo did mention today that upstate is hurting.  Indeed it is.

I don’t dislike Bob Duffy.  He is a true Rochesterian, an Aquinas alumnus, and a good Irish boy.  He’s done many things to turn Rochester around and made real progress.  My problem is I believe he is being swallowed up by a state campaign to win upstate votes and that will be the end of that.  New York City dominates this state and upstate has been in trouble for decades.   We finally get someone that can make a difference and now he’s gone.  So now what?
